In the event of a problem
Breakdown cover and roadside assistance from the first kilometre
In the event of an accident, 24/7 breakdown cover is included from the first kilometre for all vehicles.
Excess and excess reduction
The excess is the amount which remains to be paid by the Hirer. It is applied in proportion to the degree of responsibility of the Hirer in the accident:
- If the Hirer is declared not responsible: the Hirer has nothing to pay.
- If they are declared 100% responsible, the excess is 800€.
- If they are declared 50% responsible: the excess is 400€.
Particular cases:
- Windscreen breakage: excess reduced to 100€
- Non-return of the vehicle by the Hirer: excess increased to 3,000€.
- Non-responsible accident while vehicle parked and with no identified third party: the excess is still applicable (800€ or 200€ if subscribed to the purchase excess option)
the excess is applied for each accident. If there are two distinct accidents, the excess is applied twice.
Option "Purchase excess" is offered on booking for a supplement of 4 € per day of hiring. It reduces the excess for which the Hirer is responsible from 800€ to 200€ as soon as their responsibility is engaged. The excess will then be reduced to 200€ whether they are declared 50 or 100% responsible for the accident.
Damage caused while the vehicle is parked where no third party is identified, is excluded from the purchase excess.
In the event of an accident, breakdown or theft
Accident
You must behave as you would if you had an accident in your own car, except that the insurance cover is provided through Tripndrive: for an accident involving third parties, a ‘constat à l'amiable’ (accident report form) must be completed. If roadside assistance is required, Tripndrive will send a breakdown service to tow the vehicle to a nearby garage. If the cost of the repairs is less than the insurance excess, the repairs must be paid for in full by the hirer. The security deposit ensures that the owner is refunded. If the cost of the repairs is greater than the insurance excess, Tripndrive will report the accident to Allianz, who will pay the garage directly for the cost of repairs. The excess is payable by the hirer.
Breakdown
The driver should notify Tripndrive. 24/7 breakdown cover will organise repair of the vehicle. If required, the transport of passengers is taken care of to enable them to finish their journey. As always, in the event of breakdown, the owner will pay for repair of their vehicle. If required, the roadside assistance will take the owner to the garage where they will collect their vehicle.
Theft
The hirer must report the theft at the police station within 48 hours. The insurance assessor will assess the value of the stolen vehicle and the owner will be refunded for the corresponding sum, the excess remaining payable by the hirer.
